Ceasar Salad
Ceasar Salad (also spelled Cesar and Cesare) is thought to have been created by the restaurateur Caesar Cardini. He was an Italian immigrant who according to his daughter invented the salad at his restaurant "Caesar's" when a 4th of July rush in 1924 depleted all the kitchen supplies and he made due with what he had. Dramatic flair was added by preparing and tossing at the table by the chef himself !
My version strays from the original recipe by using fewer ingredients such as romaine lettuce and croutons with a dressing of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, Dijon mustard, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper. But you can use as little or as many ingredients as you like.
This is an great recipe which I get lots of compliments whenever I make it. It's practically fail proof. I will definitely use this recipe again.
A great salad to take to parties and always a favorite!
I have made the salad several times for dinner or BBQ's with either grilled salmon as depicted or chicken. The family love it - even the grandkids !
